How to get compliant with the Whistleblowing Law
Carsten Schönwald joins the Whistlelink team as Territory Manager for the DACH region. This means Carsten is responsible for developing relationships and supporting partners in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as securing and nurturing connections with organisations in the region.
With almost 40 years experience in the professional world, Carsten is a great addition to the growing Whistlelink European sales team. He is no stranger to the sales environment having worked in sales since the mid-nineties and, for the last 14 years, Carsten has focussed on selling products and services in the intellectual property (IP) industry.
Speaking of his change into the world of a SaaS solution for whistleblowing, Carsten commented,
“My decision to seek a change beyond commercial legal protection is based on the fact that, as a salesperson, you are always on the lookout to find a high-performance partner as an employer, who offers a product that you are not only personally convinced by, but also see as a positive perspective for the future. This includes making things that have often been concealed or swept under the table in the past, more accessible for all people to make disclosures, and without retaliation, as per the requirements of the EU Whistleblowing Directive. So, in the future these grievances in a company are uncovered, improved and at best eliminated.”
The EU Whistleblowing Directive expects member states to transpose a whistleblowing law that requires organisations to implement secure and confidential reporting channels. The aim is to encourage employees to report wrongdoing because they won’t be retaliated against. To achieve this, the EU proposes that remedial action is taken, to strengthen the trust of employees, customers and business partners, and so that the integrity and responsiveness of a company is improved.
Carsten continues,
“I am sure that I have found such a partner in Whistlelink. It has not only developed the right product at the right time, and been offering it on the European market for quite some time, I believe it also creates real added value for organisations and society. The whistleblowing system gives companies the chance to clarify grievances internally and to proactively take action against them before they end up in the press or on social media platforms. It achieves this by being an easy to use and safe platform for employees to submit anonymous reports. The benefit of whistleblowing software, like Whistlelink, can then serve to prevent severe penalties and image damage for the organisation.”
Whistlelink is delighted to have Carsten on board as territory manager and know he’ll get great support from our existing European sales team, as well as bring his broad knowledge to us.
